INSTRUCTOR OF THE MONTH - Kristin Parnes

Hometown: San Clemente

Tell us about your family: I currently live in Capo Beach with my husband, two kiddos, and our kitty Woodson who is almost 10 years old. My husband and I have been together since senior year of high school, but have gone to school together since the 4th grade. We have been married 10 years this year. Our kids, Beckett who is 7 and Kallie who is 4, are full time at school and thriving. On the weekends, we enjoy hanging with our family and friends, watching our kids play sports, and splitting time between being active and lounging around watching movies or playing games.

What was your childhood ambition? I honestly really wanted to be a mom! I played with baby dolls probably until I was too old actually, but loved mimicking being a mom. I took a babysitter course and starting babysitting when I was 12. I continued to babysit and nanny during college where I got my degree and teaching credential to be an elementary school teacher. I love children, so it was in my blood from the get go!

What does motherhood mean to you? To me motherhood is being a protector and a friend. I put my children first majority of the time to nurture, care, and teach them to grow to be well rounded and respectful humans.

What is the furthest you have been away from home? I have been to Europe a couple of times including German, Italy, Greece, France, and Turkey to name a few.

What is your favorite thing to do as a family? We love snuggling and watching movies.

What is something about you that someone may not know? Although I worked out when I was young, I really didn't start enjoying fitness until my late 20s and more into my early 30s.

What is your favorite healthy and unhealthy food? My favorite healthy food is probably tofu...and unhealthy would probably be chicken wings.

What is your favorite color? Pink

What is your favorite song or artist? Right now, I love Walker Hayes, but anything country.

What TV shows are you currently watching? We're late to the game, but watching Stranger Things.

Proudest moment: Becoming a mother for the very first time.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I sort of gave a clue already, but my husband and I have actually been together almost 20 years now.

How did you find FIT4MOM? It was like many of our mamas--I was a first time mom and needed out! Haha so I searched the internet and discovered local Fit4mom.

How has FIT4MOM changed your life? Fitness is enjoyable now! Plus I have this amazing group of mom friends and such a community.

Favorite exercise: I love squats!

It’s back to school time - favorite school supply to purchase? Folders to organize everything--I love organizing.

What was your favorite subject in school? English--I did well at writing so I loved it.

Who was your favorite teacher and why? I loved my fifth grade teacher-Mrs. Hall. I just remember her being so petite and her husband was so tall! She was just really sweet, but a firm teacher. Plus I loved learning about all the states that year.

Best thing to have packed in your lunchbox? I remember my friends and I would have our moms pack peanut butter filled pretzels and we called them our vitamins. Not sure why, but it's stuck with me haha.

How old is mommy? They both said 38...but then Beckett remembered I'm 36.

What is something mom always says to you? "Mommy always knows!"

What is mom really good at? Teaching

What is mom's favorite thing to do? Spend time with her child

What makes you proud of your mom? Because if he didn't have me, I wouldn't be able to care for him. He likes that I take care of him.
